The Mystos was traditionally the guide of the potential initiate in the mystery tradition of ancient Greece known as the Eleusinian mysterie.

This can be seen as portrait of an initiate, a Mystes, in the process of realizing who she is beyond the Mask. She may be fundamentally changed through the initiation which revealed sacred knowledge of her essential divine nature.
