Alchemically, water is symbolized by the downward pointing triangle forming the chalice or cup that receives and contains. This emphasizes its female characteristics linking it symbolically with fertility nurturing and health. Her solid form is the icosahedron and her colour blue.
In ancient times she was personified by the god Enki the deity of water, seas and springs. He was associated with the west and the autumn of the year.
