"The 7 Liberal Arts"

The education of a true gentleman comprised historically of what is essentially a Pythagorean quadrivium; Arithmetic- Number it’s self. Music-Number in time. Geometry-Number in space. Astronomy- Number in space and time. The Trivium was a later Roman addition, and comprised of: Rhetoric, Grammar and Logic.

Here each painting represents a teacher or master of one of the seven liberal arts. The series is also a tribute to the Great Masters of the golden age of Dutch painting.
